What fills my Hours; Golf and Travel.  My wife, Ann, and I have traveled as part of our jobs and continue to do so for leisure.  South America is our favorite continent.  Also, as a volunteer I work with legal immigrants who are studying to take the U.S. citizenship examination.

Family/Children;

 Ann and I have been married since 1970.  We have one  son, Eric, an ESL teacher in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. He and his wife have 2 children, ages 9 and 11. Each summer we take the 4 of them on vacation for one week either to new places (for us) in the US or abroad.

Recent Awards;

Nothing recent.  While teaching Spanish at the University of Northern Iowa I was the recipient of the “Educator of the Year” award from the Iowa Foreign Language Association.

After Central;

After graduation from Central in 1964 I earned my MA in Spanish at the University of Nebraska. In 1966 I was hired by the University of Northern Iowa where I taught Spanish language and literatures for 40 years. During that period, I earned my PhD at the University of Iowa, coordinated the UNI Hispanic Studies program, directed and taught in a summer MA program in Spain and Mexico for Spanish teachers.  I also spent one year as an exchange professor in Bogota, Colombia.   Now we are both retired and live winter months in Tucson, AZ and summers in NW Wisconsin.

Phi Delta Tau Memories;

Made great friendships with guys who were fun and at the same time serious students and very supportive of their brothers.
