Knight Wells September 2017

What fills my Hours;

Since retiring in 2011, I enjoy playing golf . . . more in Cape Coral, FL where we spend winter/spring.  Our home is on the 14th tee at Palmetto Pine CC.  In the summer/fall, we return to Bloomington, IL, where I enjoy traveling, home improvement projects, selling books, family, grandkids, music (still play piano & violin), and reading and a little less golf.

Family/Children;

Susan and I met on my intern year in Grand Rapids, MI, where we were married in 1970.  We have 4 children and 5 grandchildren and inherited 2 delightful girls when Sam (our youngest son) and Rebecca were married.  Jess and Sam live near Atlanta, GA – Ben and Alissa live in Bloomington, IL

Recent Awards;

After Central;

Received my M.Div. and D.Min. from Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.  Served parishes in Valley, NE and Tekamah, NE and then was an Assistant to the Bishop in the Nebraska Synod, LCA before returning to parish ministry.  Senior Pastor in Galesburg, IL and Bloomington, IL.  Since retirement, have done interim ministry in Champaign and Peoria, IL

Phi Delta Tau Memories

Who can forget the 12 man room in the winter with the electric blankets . . . the parties and filial critiques, the Red Rock Dam Tours, intramural basketball vs. the BEAKES . . . all the desks from Douwstra, on the island so they had to cancel Chapel . . . pledge night . . . Mario Bava . . . Homecoming decorations at the house . . . serenading the women at Graham Hall, with the piano in the back of a pickup . . . Being a Phi Delt made everything at Central all the more special – great guys – great friends – diverse but always supporting each other!
