WHAT FILLS MY HOURS Even though I am retired, I still do one call a day with the CIA in Langley, Va.  I have worked with them for 19 years. Years ago, they decided to do a charity golf gala for families of “fallen” CIA operatives.  Since they knew I had produced plenty of golf on TV, they ask me to be National Director and Master of Ceremonies. I recruited friends from the NFL and other sports “greats” as well as celebrity friends of mine from my days in TV to attend.  A great way to meet new “bomb sniffing dogs”, for the CIA brass in attendance.

After Central: I’m retired; But for 25 years tied to ABC TV and Warner Brothers. Career in National/Worldwide Television. Co-owner of 3 network TV Stations. President of “launch” of Local Cable News in the U.S. for Time Warner. Commuted to office in London weekly in launching Cable TV and News in the United Kingdom. Produced many Television sports events (golf, football, basketball, etc.) Co-Owner with the Soviet Union of deep-sea exploration submarine (Discovery channel/Imax). 19 years consulting for the CIA in Langley, Va, Chief Strategy Officer/ Rockefeller Consulting in NY City.

Married Carolyn McWilliams Orr on June 21, 1969 We met on a blind date as she was a freshman living in Gaas Hall. Dated 4 years at Central. Married 50 years this June.

We have 2 children; Courtney, age 44, Trenton, age 40, and 6 grandchildren all living in Connecticut.

AWARDS/ACHIEVEMENTS: Who’s Who, worldwide in the 90’s for contributions in Television, “John Orr Weight Training Facility” built at the school I taught at in Iowa. Undefeated football team at that school. Inducted into “Wall of Fame” in 2009. Handled worldwide press for the first face and double hand transplant (chimpanzee attack in Connecticut) in the world.      I own the movie rights for this story.

Memories of Phi Delta Tau: It was the atmosphere! Classy guys from all over the country.  The ambiance of the fraternity house.  Mrs. Strussma (cleaning lady). The great keg parties and house parties. Rick Ryan, Bob Hazzard and I developed our own miniature band. Two guitars and a drum set.  We played many days a week in the attic. Always remember how cool our piers were- John Cobb, Rick Fairlamb and many others. IF Phi Delt’s were not the coolest guys on campus, then who was???
