Jim Henderson

Jim Henderson and sons

What fills my hours:
I live just outside Nashville on a houseboat on Old Hickory Lake. I am still active in my business, Jim Henderson Consulting. Most of my professional time is spent coaching young leader/managers in workshops and one-on-one sessions. I know it is time to retire, but I enjoy my work so much that I may just do it forever!

My personal life includes watching professional sports (Tennessee Titans & Nashville Predators), fishing, coaching at area football camps, and serving on the Board of Trustees for Davidson Academy – a private K-12, Christ-centered school.

Family:
I have two sons, Brian and Brent. Both live in Middle Tennessee and are involved in the construction industry. Brian is a Project Manager for a commercial cabinetry company specializing in schools, churches, and hospitals. Brent manages a residential insulation company. They both have families so “Pa” stays busy with grandchildren activities.

Awards:
I can’t think of any awards since leaving coaching. My biggest honor in recent years was being chosen to lead mission trips to the American Samoa. For the past 10 years we have taken a group of high school and college football coaches to Samoa to coach and witness to Samoan athletes. The project has grown to over 30 coaches working with 400 football players. Several of our athletes are now playing at Division 1 Universities and 1 played in the Super Bowl a year ago for Philadelphia.

After Central:
• Grad school at the University of Northern Colorado
• Assistant Football Coach and Director of Physical Education, Geneseo, Illinois
• Head Football Coach, Pella High School, Pella Iowa
• Head Football Coach/Athletics Director, Jefferson, Iowa
• Offensive Coordinator/Director of Career Planning and Placement, Central College
• Regional Sales Manager, Pella Corporation
• Jim Henderson Consulting, Nashville Tennessee

Phi Delta Tau Memories:
My most vivid memories are pledging and sharing the Phi Delt experience with John Anker. As you know we lost John a few years ago. John was a good friend, Frat brother, football teammate (Captain his senior year), and fraternity leader. Also, I had John Cobb as my “big brother.” Now that’s cause for some real stories in June.
