Dick Cochran

Dick and Ellie Cochran

What fills my Hours; Retired in 2009 after an enjoyable career managing credit unions in Sacramento. Currently serving our church in teaching and finance committee work and finishing many years as a Group Leader with Bible Study Fellowship. We love to travel including river boat cruises in Europe and beyond.
Family/Children; I moved to Sacramento 1963, married Ellen Gosselink in 1964. We raised two girls and enjoying three grandkids, we are still in Sacramento. Ellen retired as a Music teacher and then a Science teacher. She continues playing her violin with the Camellia String Quartet. Our oldest daughter Caryn, a Central graduate, is a social worker with Re-hab Without Walls, her son Miles just accepted an offer to attend Lawrence College in Appleton Wisconsin for a double major in Music and Science. Her daughter Tyler will graduate next year. Our daughter Julie is a Police Lieutenant in Fremont California, her 9 year son Arie enjoys all sports.
Recent Awards; Two awards stand out, I earned an MBA with UC California at the age of 55, the oldest guy in the program; makes up for a less than stellar academic achievement at Central. I have carried the Olympic torch twice. Nope not as an athlete but for some volunteer work in the community. You pass the flame and keep the torch.
Phi Delta Tau Memories: Establishing the Fraternity was satisfying work and connected me with the other founders. I remember many late nights in the Gaas Hall drafting the by-laws, meeting with Dr. Mills who agreed to be our sponsor and bringing some great concerts to the campus. I need to mention the Graham Grabber, including a shower curtain from 3rd floor Graham Hall hanging in tree on way to chapel.
