What fills my Hours;    I retired after 8 years of teaching school in Prairie City, Iowa and then working for 30 years for the Farm Service Agency of the USDA in Iowa.  I spent 10 years working in the Hardin County Iowa office (Iowa Falls) and then 20 years as a District Director overseeing farm programs for 16 counties.

Family/Children;  Nancy (Central Class of 1972) and I have 3 children.  Jeff (in red shirt).  His wife Mackenzy (in front of him) and our 2 grandchildren Chloe (my lap) and Carter (Nancy’s lap).  Jeff is an IT specialist for CLA in Des Moines, IA. Jamie and her husband Bob — top right two people.  Bob is retired from the Phoenix Police Department as a detective. JT (sitting between Nancy and I) our youngest son and his special friend Stephanie.  This picture was taken last year after JT received his doctorate in genetics.

Recent Awards;  I received the Administrative Award to Agriculture while working for the USDA.  The then Secretary of Agriculture awarded it to me.

After Central;  We lived in Prairie City until 1978 then moved to Iowa Falls and lived there for 10 years and then moved to Ackley where we lived for 20 years.  Nancy taught school in Monroe, IA for 3 years and finished her teaching career in 2007 after teaching in the Iowa Falls School District. In 2003 we purchased an ‘investment home’ in Sun City West.  After I retired in December 2007, we came to Sun City West, AZ for the winter.  In 2008 we left Ackley and moved back to Prairie City, and continued to spend our winters in Arizona.  In 2014 we sold the home in Prairie City and decided to make our residence in Sun City West.  We purchased a Class A motorhome and take it to Iowa for 4 months in the summer to see our grandchildren.

Phi Delta Tau Memories  I feel that if it was not for Phi Delta Tau, I would not have completed college.  It provided me with a sense of ‘belonging’ and I am forever grateful for the fraternity life.  The laughs we shared, the parties we had, the times just sitting in the TV room, decorating the house for Homecoming, and the list goes on and on are priceless times in my memories
